Trip to Canterbury

The Cathedral, St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's church form the trio of World heritage Sites in Canterbury. The Abbe was founded in 597AD.
The cathedral's history goes back to 597AD when St Augustine, sent by Pope Gregory the Great as a missionary, established his seat in Canterbury. In 1170 Thomas Becket was murdered in the Cathedral and when soon afterwards miracles were said to take place, the Cathedral became one of Europe's most important pilgrimage centres.

Norman Castle
Canterbury Castle was established in the 1080's by the Normans.
